Bio

I was primarily self-taught in the arts until two years of intensive training at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art's Certificate Program. This was an invaluable boot camp for technical discipline, and honing various instincts, and I'm afraid their first rate training is still barely settling in.

I do believe in my art as a craft, however, in which it takes a certain amount of discipline to ever progress. Hence, I am learning to apply myself, and am pleased with my evolution, but have only really taken a serious approach in the last few years. I am reaching a point in my work where I have achieved a certain technical fluency which I believe is leading me to the brink of a very creative time. In other words, I am still occasionally holding on to things as I stumble around, but I am walking for sure. And soon... just watch me run!

I have become mostly a portrait artist, through my own fascination wtih the human face, but also through the simple demands of commission. Stay tuned, however, for some figurative pieces unlike any I've yet done, and a possible return to some social commentary. Also, since I am currently based in Costa Rica, it would not be so far fetched to see me finally break into landscape in earnest. So much beauty- so little time!
